Installation

Linux and MAC-OS Installation

1- Download the last version of the sphere-client distribution

from server http://sphere-dc.osug.fr:8080/sphere-server/:

For linux:

$ curl -OL http://sphere-dc.osug.fr:8080/sphere-server/sphere-client/linux/sphere-client.tar.gz

For mac os:

$ curl -OL http://sphere-dc.osug.fr:8080/sphere-server/sphere-client/macos/sphere-client.tar.gz

2- Unzip the distribution file

$ tar xzvf sphere-client.tar.gz

Files are extracted into sphere-client/. directory This is the installation directory.

In this installation directory, you can find binaries and documentation:

$ ls sphere-client/
    docs/
    icons/
    java/
    lib/

This current documentation can be found in the docs directory:

$ sphere-client/docs/README.html

Windows Installation

1- Upload the last version of the sphere-client distribution

from server http://sphere-dc.osug.fr:8080/sphere-server/

2- Unzip the distribution file

windows - unzip

Files are extracted into sphere-client/. directory This is the installation directory.

In this installation directory, you can find binaries and documentation:

$ ls sphere-client/
    docs/
    icons/
    java/
    lib/

This current documentation can be found in the docs directory:

$ sphere-client/docs/README.html

3- Create a desktop shortcut

  • right clic on sphere-client.bat file in your file browser

    • inside the popup menu clion “Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)” item

    • you can modify the name and icon associated to the created shortcut:

      • in the desktop, right clic the shortcut sphere-client.bat

      • inside the popup menu, clic the “Properties” item

      • inside the “Properties of : sphere-client.bat - Shortcut” dialog, in tab “Shortcut”, clic on “Change icon” button

        • in this same dialog, you can change the name of the shortcut: tab “General”, you can modify the default name sphere-client.bat - Shortcut" through the text field

      • inside the “Change icon” dialog, clic on “Browse…” button, and select one icon inside the sphere-client/icons directory through the opening file browser.

Start

From the installation directory, run the sphere-client application.

Linux and MAC-OS

$ cd sphere-client
$ ./sphere-client.sh

Windows

  • From file browser, open the installation directory sphere-client double-clic on sphere-client.bat file.

  • From desktop (if you created the shortcut cf. 3- Create a desktop shortcut above), double clic the sphere-client shortcut.

First login

The first time you log to the server through the sphere-client application it is necessary to subscribe to the service by creating your user account.

This user creation request is done through the login page: clic the “?” button.

Inside the dialog, confirm the user account creation request by clicking the “Yes” button.

Fill de form in the “Login” panel and clic the “Request” button.

The site administrators are informed about your subscription request and will contact you once your account is available.
